MRI machines, which can take pictures on all three planes and at an angle, can be categorized according to Magnetic Field Strength. The 1.5 Tesla machines, such as our High Field MRI, give the best image quality and can do high quality brain and spine imaging as well as excellent orthopedic imaging of the joints. Our Open Mid-field MRI also provides high quality imaging plus added patient comfort.

High Field MRI

• Patients are provided with reflective prism glasses to allow a view outside of the tunnel-shape machine.
  
  
• Family members are welcome to sit with patients during the exam.
  
  
• It is quiet during the exam. Patients may bring in their own CDs or tapes or choose from our selection.
  
  
• Our technologists are reassuring and walk patients through every step of the exam.
  
  
• Patients may communicate with our technologist, who sits just outside of the exam room, via a two-way intercom.
  
  
• Relaxing aromatherapy is available for patients who feel claustrophobic.
  You can expect to spend 30 to 45 minutes in the MRI.

Open Mid-Field MRI

• There is no tunnel to slide into. The unit is open on four sides and claustrophobic patients usually feel more comfortable. Also, there are no patient size or weight limitations.
  
  
• Family members are welcome to sit with patients during the exam.
  
  
• The unit has a comfortably padded adjustable table.
  
  
• It is quiet during the exam. Patients may bring in their own CDs or tapes or choose from our selection.
  
  
• Patients may communicate with our technologist, who sits just outside of the exam room, via a two-way intercom.
  
  
• You can expect to spend 30 to 45 minutes in the MRI.
