Background

The Huntington MR Center is equipped with open design MRI and high field MRI scanners. Huntington MR Center is the only full-service MRI facility in the San Gabriel Valley area. Being the first operational fully clinical MRI Center in California, Huntington MR Center pioneered MRI interpretation and service delivery. As Southern California’s premier site for applied MRI technology, we have continuously upgraded our MRI facilities.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging has developed into a powerful clinical tool in the area of diagnostic imaging. Utilizing physical properties of magnetic fields and radio waves, MRI can successfully generate high tissue contrast and resolution for quality imaging of human anatomy.

MRI is the superior modality for detecting pathological changes in soft tissue. Bone distortion is non-existent, thus making MR a commonly used procedure for brain, spine and musculoskeletal imaging. In addition, MR’s sensitivity to flowing blood makes the technique particularly effective for cardiovascular imaging. As a result, many steps are being taken to further develop MR Angiography in the detection and localization of vascular malformation.

MRI provides a safe and easy procedure for the patient, with no ionizing radiation or other health hazards present. This inherent safety combined with constantly improving results of MR imaging techniques has made magnetic resonance an extremely successful and popular modality. MRI will continue to develop as more and more physicians utilize the technology for primary clinical screening.

The Hill Medical Radiologists, based at Huntington Memorial Hospital, direct the clinical and technical operations of the center. As the radiologists who brought MRI to Southern California, they are well known for their highly sub-specialized practice and expertise in various disciplines with Board Certification and Certificates of Added Qualifications in Neuro, Pediatric, and Interventional Radiology from the American Board of Radiology.

Huntington MR Center gives patients the convenience, flexibility and the scanner of their choice. Patients are scheduled in a timely manner and urgent cases can be accommodated. With a radiologist on site, scans are reviewed to make real-time decisions about changes in protocol for complicated cases. Scans are promptly interpreted and transcribed, minimizing report turnaround time. Huntington MR Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology’s Commission on Standards and Accreditation. We are contracted with the major insurance plans and HMOs in the area in addition to a multitude of PPO and POS plans. We also participate with both Medicare and Medi-Cal.
